DIY: Pinecone Decorations

One of the things I love most about Christmas is decorating the tree. I personally love a real tree mostly because of the gorgeous pine smell and the nutty colours of the pinecones. This year our tree only has one pinecone on it so what's a pinecone loving gal to do...add more. Here is a quick little tutorial for creating pinecone decorations with a faux snowcap for your tree.

Here is what you going to need...

- pinecones (I collected some from the forest near my house)
- crystal string
- scissors
- glue (clear drying)
- spraypaint in matt white

Step 1: Start by spraypainting the top of each pinecone. Spray in short little burst to be able to build up the colour. Set aside to dry.

Step 2: Once completely dry tie a piece of crystal string around the top of each pinecone.

Step 3: Dab glue on the knot and along the string that is around the cone. Make sure to leave a long piece of sting trailing.

Step 4: One the glue is dry tie a loop with the length of crystal string you left aside.

Step 5: Place a blob of glue on the knot and trim off the excess string. Allow to dry.

And that's all that's left is to hang your decorations on your tree. These are especially great if you have a faux tree as they add a little of that real tree smell and look.

Happy making!
