TRAVEL: Cherry Picking

So over the weekend I went to visit friends on their grape farm in De Doorns. We spent the weekend catching up, eating delicious food and drinking amazing wine. But the most fun was the day we spent cherry picking. Yip I said it...cherry picking!

Where you might ask?! Well at Klondyke Cherry Farm of course. Located just outside of Ceres. The farm has a wide range of cherry varieties from the super sweet to the more sour. Basically you collect a container from the cashier and then go off into the orchard to pick with glee. Once your containers are full you go back to the cashier, weigh your stash and then pay per kilo.

We packed a little picnic and sat under the trees for lunch before beginning our picking spree. Which worked out great cause I could not imagine picking on an empty stomach. Look at these beauties...

We had the most amazing day together and have some delicious cherries to show for it. I highly recommend going out to the farm for the day. Their cherry season runs from late November to early January.

Happy picking!
