TRAVEL: Munich, Germany

Yesterday we arrived back in Italy after a spur of the moment short trip to Munich. And I've got to tell you what an amazing city Munich is, we definitely had the best time there.

Day 1: The husband and I got on the bus from Bolzano, Italy to Munich, Germany which only took 4 hours. We spent the first day just getting settled and finding our bearings. Plus a little grocery shopping and a stroll down the road.

Day 2: We went to the Hellabrunn Zoo, what a beautiful place. The majority of the animals are NOT behind bars or glass and there are trees everywhere. They also have a large variety of animals which makes it a great place to spend the day. I was running around like a kid in a candy store oohing and aahing at all the beautiful creatures.

Lunch break...

This guy was my favourite...

A prehistoric looking fella...

And a little bit of home in Munich...

Day 3: Saw us off to BMW World and the BMW Museum. It was fantastic to see the history of BMW in a gorgeous collection of cars and not in a book.

Elvis Presley's BMW 507...

My favourite bike...

Beauty...

I fell in love with a couple of models especially this little yellow Isetta.

We also had dinner at the famous HofbrÀuhaus. There were so many people and we waited a rather long time to get hold of a waitron. We grabbed a GIANT pretzel from one of the vendors while we waited. But honestly once we had ordered our food came to the table really quick and was worth the wait. Plus the beer is fantastic!

Day 4: Was full of science and technology history at the Deutsches Museum. As well as a stroll around Marienplatz.

The New Town Hall in the square...

Day 5: We took a walk to the English Gardens in search of the Chinese Tower. Which we found in the centre of a beergarden...what a bonus. We enjoyed some beer, sausages and another giant pretzel.

Day 6: It was time to pack up and head back to Italy but we managed to get in a little bicycle ride to the beautiful English Gardens. We then made our way back to the bus stop for the 4 hour drive back to Bolzano.

We really enjoyed our stay in Munich and would love to go back again sometime. I highly recommend it as there is lots to see and do plus the locals are very friendly and helpful, which is great when you don't speak the language.

Happy travels!
